Are you a single woman seeking some hot property?  Do you dream of owning your own home or investing your funds in a property but don’t know where to start?  28th Street Agency’s 2025 EmpowerHER Property Ownership Initiative offers a FREE and comprehensive suite of buyer’s advocacy services and mentorship to one recipient each year. While it’s valued at $12,000 – $15,000, the insights and confidence obtained by this year’s awardee will be priceless.

EmpowerHER was developed by 28th Street Agency Director Kerryn Brownson, an accomplished buyer’s agent with a head for smart property investments and a heart for helping others.  Kerryn shared that EmpowerHER exists to “Motivate and support single women to achieve their property ownership goals, be it their home or the first investment in their real estate portfolio.

“So many women live without housing security for one reason or another. Some women find themselves single after many years in a relationship where their partner controlled the finances. It can be a sudden and steep learning curve that sometimes results in homelessness due to financial mismanagement.

“Having experienced my own struggles as a single mum, I want to use my skills and experience to help women realise the value of their existing assets and arm them with enduring skills and insights to help them build a better future for themselves and any children they might have.”

2025’s EmpowerHER recipient will benefit from the following services:

Comprehensive Property Consultation and Assessment
Once a broker (yours or 28th Street’s recommended broker) has assessed and confirmed your financial viability, Kerryn will discuss and review your personal circumstances, financial goals and aspirations with you, providing guidance on the path to property ownership.

Tailored Guidance and Advice
Once all the essential finance and legal boxes are ticked, you and Kerryn will start your search for the perfect property for you!   On the way, you’ll learn about property selection, finance options and investment strategies.

Negotiation Support and Representation
Kerryn will represent your interests and undertake all property negotiations on your behalf. You can relax; knowing her advanced insider knowledge and skills will significantly improve your chances of achieving your property goals.

Ongoing Mentorship and Support
Kerryn’s mentorship doesn’t end once you have the keys to your new property.  Her personal support will continue as you navigate the world of property ownership and portfolio growth. Having already experienced the benefits of 28th Street’s buyer’s advocacy services, you can invest in her services for your future purchases or just stay in touch to share life’s happenings.

Kerryn’s success in business and property is a testament to her tenacity and grit, having survived domestic violence in her youth.

While working in two jobs (one full-time and the other as a small business owner), she studied to become a buyer’s agent and a licenced real estate agent, which led to the creation of 28th Street Agency. Since then, she’s seen many of her clients leverage the value of their savings through her innovative approaches, solid investment strategies, her team’s exemplary customer service and her fierce love of negotiating a great deal.

As Kerryn explains, it’s her lived experience that’s become the driving force behind the establishment of EmpowerHER, “I know how reassuring it is to have a home that’s yours alone. Knowing you’ve purchased a property in an area with good capital growth potential that’s also comfortably within your ability to maintain its upkeep and financing is incredibly empowering. Having the security and freedom to paint the walls, hang up a picture, or whatever else you want or need is everything.”

Kerryn also contributes a portion of 28th Street’s proceeds to support Catherine House’s efforts to provide accommodation and supportive services to women who are experiencing homelessness.
