Located right in the heart of the bustling township of Mount Barker sits Lady Luck; a local retreat that’s been slinging coffees for two years.
The rustic, cream facade stands out, transporting customers to an era that has long passed us by. But Lady Luck is anything but antiquated.
The cosy joint is run by sisters Maddi and Taylah Canny, has proven itself to be a hotspot, with delicious coffee, sweet pastries and a stacked breakfast and brunch menu.
Amongst the popular dishes are the poached ‘Eggs & Roses’ served with halloumi, avocado, rose harissa, labneh and za’atar; and the mouth watering Shiitake mushroom and leek dumplings. And for the sweet tooth, there’s the Sunday hotcakes, stacked with strawberries and topped with melt-in-your-mouth fairy floss.
Or how’s the Japanese pancakes, with miso butter mushrooms, confit chilli and crispy enoki? Sounds good, hey?
If you’ve only got a couple of minutes, there’s also a range of delicious pastries and croissants that you can grab with your morning coffee.
Before Lady Luck, the two sisters had been in hospitality for a long time, and always had intentions to run their own place. And in 2021, that dream became a reality.
“We’d both worked in hospitality for around ten years and we thought if we are going to keep doing it, we’d love to do it for ourselves.”
In a Facebook post on their page, the two expressed how grateful they were after celebrating two years in the industry.
“Two years in biz has turned us into two fried eggs, we wouldn’t have it any other way! Thankyou from the bottom of our hearts for supporting Lady Luck,” read the post.
Lady Luck is located 16 Walker Street, Mt Baker.
