Six craft beer events you can’t miss this winter

From taco nights to winter solstice-inspired parties, these events are filled with craft beer to enliven your winter season.

Beer is great year-round, but there’s something special about a cold beer warming you up in the winter season.

It seems South Australia’s breweries agree with this sentiment, as many are hosting some epic events and festivals inspired by the colder months. From taco nights to winter solstice-inspired parties, these events are filled with craft beer to enliven your winter.

Arkaba Hotel Beer and Cider Fest

The Arkaba Hotel is hosting a Beer and Cider Fest, where guests can taste more than 80 beers and ciders, partake in crafty masterclasses, try delicious street food, and win prizes. There will be a focus on local craftiness, such as Shifty Lizard from Willunga, and Prancing Pony and Sidewood Cider from the Adelaide Hills

There will also be tunes all day, with DJ Ryley spinning the tracks. The ticket for the event includes a tasting stein and all tastings.

Tacos and Tinnies at Big Shed Brewing Concern

Big Shed Brewing Concern is hosting tacos and tinnies, where guests can get three tacos and a Jetty Jumper, Royal Park Lager or F-Yeah beer for only $20. The brewery hosts this event multiple times a year, each time with new taco combinations, and it’s always a hit. The next installation of the event will take place on June 8.

The Highway’s Darka Geddon

On Saturday, June 19, the popular HWY pub will host an epic event showcasing the darkest products for the winter solstice, the darkest weekend of the year. Think everything warm and wintery, with dark craft beers from breweries across our great state including Mismatch, Little Bang, Pirate Life, Big Shed Brewing and of course, our beloved Coopers. The wintery event will serve up beer, wine, spirits, cocktails, and food in the Highway’s famous beer garden from 12 – 4pm. Tickets are $50.

Beer & BBQ festival

Beer and BBQ Festival rises from the ashes of 2020 in all its glory for the 2021 edition at the Adelaide Showground from Friday 23rd until Sunday 25th July. 

Returning with a monumental music line-up, of over 100 local and national brewers, cider makers, distillers and winemakers, the biggest BBQ and chef line-up ever hosted at the event, and all MC’d by Australia’s infamous outlaw country-rocker, musician, radio & TV personality, Henry Wagons.

Umbrella Festival at Little Bang Brewing Co

Umbrella Festival is South Australia’s largest open access live music festival. This year, Little Bang will host two acts over two Friday nights in July. The first is Local Adelaide acoustic singer-songwriter, Mason Lloyde on the 23rd followed by energetic and charismatic Adelaide band, Nights on Mayfair on the 30th.

Prancing Pony’s Giddy Up Festival

Pull yourself out of the winter blues by rocking out at the upcoming Giddy Up Music Festival at Prancing Pony Brewery! Local bands are eager to burst your ear drums with the sweet music of good old rock and roll.

Break a sweat dancing to some local Adelaide Hills bands, Indiago and Agapanther, and throw back a few of Prancing Pony’s fine brews. You can also cure those cheeky cravings with some delicious wood-fired pizzas and burgers, available during happy hour.
