Skip breakfast to help hungry children with KickStart for Kids event

KickStart for Kids Annual ‘No Breakfast, Breakfast’ is returning on December 9 and invites you to skip breakfast to raise funds for hungry children.

KickStart for Kids Annual ‘No Breakfast, Breakfast’ is returning on Thursday 9 December, 2021 at the Hilton Adelaide.

The ‘No Breakfast, Breakfast’ – hosted this year by the Honourable Connie Bonaros MLC – gives busy executives the opportunity to start their day by supporting thousands of hungry South Australian kids as they voluntarily skip breakfast.

KickStart for Kids is a South Australian not-for-profit organisation that provides a breakfast program for underprivileged kids who often start their day on an empty stomach. The program currently serves around 60,000 breakfasts per week in over 400 schools across the state, including the North, West, South and several regional areas.

KickStart for Kids founder, Ian Steel OAM, said over the past two years, they have seen child hunger in South Australia worsen as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic.

“There is a huge product shortage for our breakfast program, and thousands of kids are in dire need of our support.”

Guests may choose to indulge in breakfast after the event, or continue their day on an empty stomach and experience this effect on their mental and physical strength. Either way, the privilege of breakfast is acknowledged and appreciated.

Connie Bonaros MLC said the the organisation does stellar work in making a difference.

“KickStart for Kids is a truly inspirational organisation led by an equally inspirational South Australian, Ian Steel, who has made it his mission to help our kids in need,” Connie said.

“To anyone who meets Ian, it is clear he does not want any fuss, but I think it is really important we acknowledge the work he is doing in our community to make the lives of kids across this state just that little bit easier.”

Ian relies on the good people of Adelaide to help with his mission and the ‘No Breakfast, Breakfast’ gives you the opportunity to do so.

The event will run from 7:30am-8:45 with all money raised from ticket sales going towards purchasing breakfasts for the program.

Ian said the event highlights the struggles that many children face in SA.

“The majority of us are so lucky to wake up and have access to breakfast every single morning, a basic comfort that so many lack,” said Ian.

“This event is a fantastic opportunity for individuals, offices, schools and others to help us combat the severity of child hunger in South Australia.”

Tickets are $65 for a single ticket or $600 for a table of 10 with all proceeds going to KickStart for Kids.

The No Breakfast Breakfast event will take place on Thursday 9 December 2021 7:30am – 8:45am at Hilton Adelaide Victoria Square, Adelaide SA 5000
