Cash grants of $10,000 for eligible small businesses and not-for-profits still hard hit by COVID-19 will be paid from as early as today, as demand for the targeted State Government assistance continues to grow.
So far, more than 2000 small businesses and not-for-profit organisations have applied under the SA Government’s second round of cash grant stimulus – less than a week after they were announced.
Of those, 1875 have applied for the $10,000 cash grants (ie they are small businesses or not-for-profits who employ staff and continue to receive extended JobKeeper payments).
A further 137 have applied for a $3,000 cash grant (ie they are small businesses who do not employ staff – including sole traders/partnerships – who operate from a commercial premise and are continuing to suffer COVID-19 hardship.
The major measures – part of the SAl Government’s record $4 billion in economic stimulus – will help protect thousands of local jobs.
“This is an immediate and targeted cash injection for these South Australian businesses and not-for-profits who continue to be impacted by COVID-19,” said Treasurer Rob Lucas.
“The cash grants will be available to help cover a business’ ongoing or outstanding operating costs, such as rent, power bills, supplier and raw materials costs and other fees.
“This comes on top of the more than 18,700 businesses who benefited from the first round of grants – at a total cost of more than $186 million – which supported more than 100,000 local jobs.”
