Small Business Week returns to SA with AI and digital skills in the spotlight

Small Business Week returns to South Australia from 17 to 21 August, with AI, digital capability, business resilience and practical support in the spotlight.

South Australian small and family businesses will have a chance to sharpen their digital skills, explore the role of AI and connect with industry experts when Small Business Week returns this August.

Running from Monday 17 August to Friday 21 August, the annual statewide program will bring together workshops, networking opportunities, regional events and the flagship Small Business Expo, with this year’s program placing a strong focus on digital capability, artificial intelligence and business resilience.

The week is designed to give business owners practical support at a time when many are managing rising costs, workforce pressures, fast-changing technology and the daily demands of running a business. Events will be held across metropolitan and regional South Australia, with a suite of digital resources also available for those who cannot attend in person.

Topics set to be explored throughout the week include succession planning, business continuity, sustainability, digital skills and AI, giving businesses the chance to step back from day-to-day operations and consider how they can adapt, strengthen and grow.

Minister for Small and Family Business Nadia Clancy said the event would help local operators access expert advice and build connections across the business community.

“Small businesses are navigating a range of economic pressures, workforce challenges and rapid changes in technology, as well as the day to day running of the business.

“Small Business Week provides the opportunity for businesses to hear from experts, connect with peers and focus on growth, building capability and resilience.

“The week brings together a variety of expert insights, valuable connections and practical tools to help businesses embrace new opportunities.”

Small Business Week is delivered by the Office for Small and Family Business in partnership with the Small Business Commission SA, the Industry Advocate and Consumer and Business Services.

The event is part of South Australia’s Small Business Strategy 2023-2030, which is focused on helping small and family businesses access the support, programs and connections they need to start, run and grow.

The Office for Small and Family Business was established in 2022 to support businesses across the state and help connect them with government services. It offers a broad range of tools and resources, including information on starting a business, cyber security, export markets, employing staff, and business and marketing plan templates.

With AI now reshaping how businesses operate, market themselves, manage administration and reach customers, this year’s digital focus is expected to be especially relevant for local operators looking to work smarter while staying resilient.

The full Small Business Week 2026 program will be released soon, with more information to be available at business.sa.gov.au/week.
