Smart Prize For First State Wine Festival Winner

Geoff Dutton of Rose Park, South Australia, was one smart guest at the state’s first ever state wine festival held in late February 2011 and is now zooming around the city as the proud owner of a new Smart car.

Visitors at the Cellar Door Wine Festival, held at the Adelaide Convention Centre, were automatically in the running to win the Smart car and doubled their chances by pre-purchasing their tickets to the event.

Thanks to BEA Motors and SMART, the car decorated for the festival in a purple berry-like wrap complete with a giant green glossy leaf, was affectionately known as ‘Beryl.’ Today, the car is returned to its original stCarate for winner Geoff Dutton to enjoy.

Officially opened by Premier Mike Rann, the three-day festival attracted over 5,000 visitors who sampled the wares of over one hundred wineries and enjoyed the fresh produce of the state’s various regions.

Wineries are already on the waiting list for South Australia’s second state wine festival in 2012 after this year’s enormous success with praise to the Adelaide Convention Centre for spearheading an event that proudly showcases an important South Australian industry, wine, during a time of year that Adelaide’s CBD is a buzz with domestic and international visitors, as well as locals.

At the festival, the spotlight shined on our local wine industry and brought the cellar doors to the city for all to enjoy.
