A fresh new cafe, Table on the Terrace, will open on North Terrace this Monday February 3rd at Lot Fourteen. Located in the historic Sheridan Kiosk, it will serve artisanal coffee and a classic cafe menu of fresh, seasonal, locally-sourced produce.

Located in the heart of Adelaide’s innovation district, home to global tech companies like Amazon Web Services and Salesforce, Table on the Terrace is here to fuel the minds and appetites of business professionals in the area, and of course locals too.

When asked about the cafe’s menu, Owner and Director Karen Slabbert says: “A cafe has to have a good breakfast. That for me starts with good eggs – farm fresh eggs.”

Table on the Terrace’s signature food will be its scrambled eggs, made by Chef Tyler in a unique way that puts a delicious twist on an oldie but a goodie.

The cafe’s bread will come from Adelaide’s award-winning Skala Artisan Bakery, with every slice of sourdough, rye, and white bread made fresh and delivered daily.

Other dishes on the menu include a granola and coconut yogurt dish with lemon myrtle poached pear. Chef Tyler will make the granola from scratch on-site. For those with a bigger appetite, options such as pickled green tomatoes served on sourdough and a personal favourite of Karen’s, burrata with salsa verde, grilled zucchini, and pita bread are set to be another hit.

Table on the Terrace will of course have a solid sandwich called their “Terrace Sando”, made entirely from fresh ingredients sourced from the Adelaide Central Market. Each day, Chef Tyler will visit the market to create this surprise sandwich.

“It will be a surprise everyday with what he comes back with and puts on the table for us,” Karen says.

Table on the Terrace will also focus on using technology to improve service. It will partner with MyVenue to introduce a streamlined system where customers can order and pay directly at the table using one device.

“We’re trying to leverage as much of technology as we can to free up our staff to focus on hospitality and great service,” Karen says.

The venue itself will have premium street-frontage and will offer both indoor seating and an expansive outdoor alfresco area, with views of the surrounding lawns.

Table on the Terrace is owned by Karen Slabbert, along with Co-Owner and Director Shane Abbott, who both also own Port Noarlunga’s The Flour Store. With a combined 50 years of experience in hospitality, they are passionate about bringing South Australia’s finest produce to the forefront.

“We’re committed to showcasing the best of South Australian produce, delivering high-quality, locally-sourced food and beverages that reflect the region’s rich culinary heritage,” Karen says.

“Lot Fourteen is a hub of innovation and creativity, and we’re thrilled to be part of this growing community,” Shane Abbott says. “We look forward to serving the diverse group of visitors, researchers and workers and hope to make Table on the Terrace a true neighbourhood favourite.”

“I’m most excited about offering a space where business people at Lot Fourteen can bring their clients. A place where they can sit, enjoy table service, and focus on their customers before or after a business meeting,” Karen says.

Table on the Terrace will open its doors from 7am to 4pm Monday to Friday with the potential to provide catering for the over 700 events, workshops, major festivals, and community activities held annually at Lot Fourteen.

The cafe’s opening also coincides with the 100th anniversary of the Sheridan Kiosk, which first opened in 1925 to serve light refreshments to the public and comfort patients and their visitors.
