Sparkke at the Whitmore, the latest incarnation of the West End’s historic Whitmore Hotel, will host Rock-A-Bye-Baby featuring She’s The Band, Phat Stuff and roving swing dancers, from 8pm on Saturday, 16 February.

The first brew house for female founded and led Sparkke Change Brewing Co, Sparkke at the Whitmore has upped the company’s pace of production and will house a bottle shop to further celebrate makers of fine craft bevvies, including head brewer Agi Gajic, while nurturing a wide community and raising awareness and funds for social issues.
Ali says the building yielded surprises in the order of a wood shingle ceiling and the revelation of a “pub within a pub” during the renovations, which have been left in the capable hands of Troppo Architects.
“During our renovations we discovered an external wall inside the building, from its first incarnation as the Queens Arms, licenced to Thomas Maslin in 1838,” she says.
“Upon lifting the tin ceiling in the area we have called the ‘Queen’s Room’, we found the beautiful old shingles that were apparently covered up after being outlawed as a fire hazard in the 1850’s.
“We have preserved both of these finds.
“This building is now a physical representation of the Sparkke brand and our values of inclusivity, raw truth, social equity, individuality and a passion for excellence.”
Sparkke is committed to producing 100 per cent natural and adventurous brews, each one attached to a cause, including apple cider for sexual consent (Consent Can’t Come After You Do); pilsner for Australia Day (Change The Date); and hard lemonade for gender equality (Nipples Are Nipples).
