Jolleys Boathouse Launches Cracker New Winter Specials

This Winter enjoy Mud Crab & Moritz or Duck & Pinot, as two great shared options on the menu at this Adelaide foodie institution.

Here at Glam Adelaide we were lucky enough to attend the launch of the Jolleys Boathouse winter menu specialties, and we can assure you; they’ve smashed it out of the park!

Before we get stuck in to the food details, it needs to be said how stunning Jolleys Boathouse is when the sun goes down. Warm lighting, natural timber, twinkling fairy lights strung overhead, and a front-row view of the River Torrens and greenery. It’s truly beautiful, and perfect for a special occasion if you really want to impress.

Hosted by warm and friendly staff, was sat by the fire and were treated to a huge serving of “Mud Crab & Moritz”. The crab was as fresh as it comes, cooked to sweet and juicy perfection, served in a big bowl of spicy coconut and chilli broth.

Made for sharing, there’s really no delicate way to eat such a dish, so eating with hands was encouraged. Things got a little messy, which just made the whole experience even more fun.

The broth was unbelievably tasty, and not a drop was going to waste. Fried bread buns were a welcomed accompaniment; so we could soak up all of that mouth-tingling goodness!

Moritz beer flowed on, matched perfectly to refresh the palate.

The Mud Crab & Moritz is priced at $100 per couple, including 4 Moritz.

The “Duck & Pinot” was next, and did not disappoint.

For just $70 per couple, you get a WHOLE duck and 2 glasses of Pinot Noir. Bargain!

The whole duck is salted with prickly ash, tea smoked, steamed, and fried, so the skin is nice and crispy, just the way you want it.

The smoky flavour was delicious and matched with a complimenting Pinot Noir. Served alongside steamed rice, Asian greens, Szechuan cucumber and a sticky sweet sauce; let’s just say there were a few belt notches being loosened up! (We wouldn’t have it any other way.)
