Social Playground Introduces A New Form of Social Media Play

The next generation of photobooths has emerged with the introduction of Social Playground’s Live Instagram Printer in to the South Australian market. Built with events in mind, the Live Instagram Printer merges the traditional photobooth with the social media photo-sharing app Instagram.
Launched in October 2013, Social Playground is the first and most advanced of its kind in Australia. The Live Instagram Printer allows anyone with a smartphone and an Instagram account to take a photo, add an event hashtag, and collect a branded polaroid-style printout of their photo within 30 seconds.
The concept drives online buzz around a brand’s hashtag by encouraging consumers to hashtag their photos at events, brand activations and in-store promotions. Post-event photos are collected in an online gallery that can be branded or embedded on a website to drive social sharing and conversation even further.
Annabelle Smith, Social Playground’s Co-Founder and Business Director, first experienced the printing craze while in the United States and saw a gap in the Australian market. “I witnessed the success of the live Instagram printer and upon returning to Australia and discovering it was yet to make it here, I jumped on the opportunity,” says Smith.
Having successfully launched in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane, Social Playground is now targeting the South Australian market, aiming the Live Instagram Printer at weddings, events, and activations.
“There is nothing like this in South Australia, and Social Playground adds a creative touch to any event,” says Smith.
In addition to the Live Instagram Printer, Social Playground has launched the Live Instagram Feed; a data visualization tool that captures Instagram photos in real-time, showcasing the images in an animated display on an event screen. Data Capture with Social Sharing to Twitter and Facebook, will further increases longevity of campaign.
2015 will see the launch of two new products: roaming social photography and a mystery product, which will corner the retail market.
“We wanted to start up a creative hub that bridges the gap between the online world and the real world through live a digital experience,” says Smith.
The Live Instagram Printer and Live Instagram Feed are now available in South Australia for one-off event hire, annual licensing or permanent installations, and range from weddings and brand activations to festivals and expos.
