Sold Out Dance Theatre Spectacular Returns

Following an award winning, sell out season at the Adelaide Fringe, Polecats returns smarter and sexier than before to thrill audiences across Australia with its breathtaking and unique marriage of contemporary dance, ballet and pole dancing.

Created by respected director, actor, and producer Cathy Adamek, Polecats features 4 new cast members and some of Australia's best pole dancers and contemporary dancers including a world pole doubles champion, Chinese pole and acrobatic exponent and a former Australian Dance Theatre (ADT) star.

Visually, Polecats features a revamped Japanese pop ballet inspired costume design by AFI nominated Mariot Kerr. Sound design is seamlessly mixed by the godfather of Australian techno DJ HMC aka LNTG (Late Night Tuff Guy), with lighting by well-known South Australian, Nic Mollison.

“Pole dancing is an art form that has achieved world recognition as a competitive sport with massive creative potential. This unique style of dance combined with original choreography, costume and sound design is a truly once-off experience,” Ms Adamek said.

This stand out show proves that there is much more to pole dancing than meets the eye. The remarkable physicality of the routines showcases the strength, flexibility and endurance of the performers. The integration of classical dance and acrobatic skills create an original and wildly impressive show that will have audiences in awe.

“Polecats celebrates the freedom of human movement and by doing so sends a strong message about female empowerment. It symbolises women as free – mid flight using their own upper body strength to do complex moves” Ms Adamek said.

Polecats will be touring Australia from 20 November 2012 to 9 February 2013.
