Solomon Street Block Party invites you to the ultimate Friday knockoffs

Hosted by Solomon Street residents 1000 Island, Sunny’s and Cry Baby, Solomon Street Block Party will serve up the best summer vibes on December 17.

Your Friday arvo knockoffs in the city are about to get even better with Solomon Street Block Party.

Hosted by Solomon Street residents 1000 Island, Sunny’s and Cry Baby, the collaboration will serve up the best summer vibes on December 17.

From 2pm until 12am, visitors can party in the streets while the venues will roll on until 2am.

The street will close off as guests flood into the disco paradiso with free entry. Sunny’s pizza van will be cooking up steamy pizzas with margherita, pepperoni and eggplant on offer; meanwhile the Sunny’s venue itself will continue inhouse service. Grab a slice in the sun or if the heat’s too much, slide on into their booths.

There will be day and night cocktails with Barcardi cocktails on tap, and cold wine to keep cool and buzzed. The cocktails will include Bubblegum Alley Hubba Bubba infused vodka with strawberry, cherry, verjuice and fizz carbo Colada. There will also be coconut rum, pineapple wine, verjuice, fizz rhubi collins gin, rhubarb, lemon and fizz.

If you’re craving a blondie at Cry Baby or a Big Kahuna at 1000 Island, you’re welcome to head into the venues, have a drink, and head back onto the sunny street.

Djs will be spinning tunes from day until night with a loaded line up of live music. The set times are:

2pm – 5pm: Sunny’s Soundsystem

5pm – 6pm: Jamie’s Kitchen

6pm – 7pm: Chutney Spoons

7pm – 9pm: Nantale

9pm – 12am: Medhi (Condesa Electronics)

1000 Island part owner Daniel Vaughan said this is the first street party of its kind where all three venues have been involved.

“We are hoping to create a little oasis,” Daniel said.

“A laid back environment to experience the offerings that each venue provides all combined into one unique outdoor space.”

It’s a well-known fact that all three venues are pillars in the Adelaide nightlife scene. Sunny’s has been regarded by Matt Preston as one of the top food venues to try in Adelaide. Both Cry Baby and 1000 Island are popular joints to hit up for a boogie and a drink after stopping by Sunny’s.

Cry Baby is known for its retro vibes and old-school charm with many loyal patrons stretching back from its launch in 2018.

1000 Island opened back in 2019 and is a trendy bar filled with artsy vibes and a long list of drink options, with a motto “for ice and all that goes in it”.

Solomon Street Block Party will take place at Solomon St, Adelaide.

The event will run on Friday December 17 from 2pm-2am.
