Adelaide bars may reign supreme in a competitive cocktail competition!
The Patron Perfectionists Cocktail Competition has established the top 30 contestants from across the country, and seven of them are from South Australia. The competition spans across 20 countries, with a national finalist selected from each, and with seven Adelaide bartenders in the running, our state has a high chance of winning the Australian leg of the competition.
There are SA finalists from Bank Street Social, Memphis Slim’s House of Blues, Extra Chicken Salt, Shotgun Willie’s, and Bar Torino.
The PATRÓN tequila-based creations will be available in bars from 24th June, and in a competition-first, consumers will be able to cast their votes on their top 30 favourite entries before the top 10 finalists are decided.
The Australian winner will get flown to Hacienda Patron in Mexico (as part of a $10,000 trip!) to compete against the other countries’ winners. If they win the entire competition, they will become a Patron ambassador in some capacity, which can lead to a career development for many.
The competition has been running for many years, and Australia has never won, so hopefully this year is our year! But either way, the level of success South Aussie contestants have had in the competition so far highlights Adelaide as a massive player in the national hospitality scene, undoubtedly contributing to the standard Australia is famed for internationally.
The SA finalists include:
Grace Rawlins Memphis Slim’s House of Blues
Thomas Sykes Extra Chicken Salt
Matthew Blyth Shotgun Willie’s
Talis Heggart Memphis Slim’s House of Blues
Nicholas Favaro Bar Torino
Georgia Edmonds Bank Street Social
Marcus Pascoe Bank Street Social
