With winter school holidays in full swing, families right across South Australia are scoring a seriously sweet deal thanks to a new statewide offer from the ALH Hotel Group.
For the entire July break, kids can eat for just $5 at dozens of ALH pubs throughout the state, including local favourites like The Emu Hotel, Henley Beach Hotel, Village Tavern, , Rex Hotel, Tower Hotel and more.
It’s part of a feel-good push to get families out and about without breaking the bank, offering a full kids meal with all the trimmings for less than the price of a coffee.
And we’re not talking tiny portions either.
“Everyone’s like ‘WOW these are huge and such great value’,” says Emu Hotel Manager Ben Tuck.
“Parents are so grateful for a good deal right now with the cost of living and everything going up. It’s a small win, but it goes a long way.”
The kids meals vary slightly by venue, but think mini cheeseburgers, dinosaur nuggets, fish and chips, spaghetti with garlic bread, mini pizzas, and healthier touches like salad, fruit, cheese, sultanas and hard-boiled eggs. Some venues are even throwing in drinks, sprinkled yoghurt cups or that all-time favourite, frog in the pond.

“The kids’ eyes go straight to the frog in the pond,” Ben laughs.
“It’s nostalgic, it’s fun, and it’s the hero of a meal that really delivers.”
The $5 Kids Meals are available with the purchase of any adult main, making it the perfect excuse to get out of the house, warm up in a cosy pub, and enjoy a no-dishes night with the family.

To find a participating pub near you, head to the ALH Group website and check out your local. With more than 20 venues across SA getting behind the promotion, there’s bound to be one just around the corner.
Because honestly, when was the last time you paid $5 for anything that came with a chocolate frog?
And the kids will be saying on the way home in the car “winner winner chicken dinner!”
