scosaToday scosa launches its major healthy living and fundraising campaign, Kick it, calling on South Australians to kick their bad habits while at the same time helping to support people living with disabilities.

The culmination of the campaign will be a walk through the streets of Adelaide on Sunday 26 October 2014 when participants will celebrate the bad habits that they have kicked.

John Tobin, General Manager of Business Development for scosa commented, “The unique aspect of Kick it is that people chose to do whatever they like – whether it be kicking a bad habit or doing something good for themselves. People in our workplace are starting this week and have committed to making changes in their lifestyles from now until October. So in effect, they have committed to a minimum of three months. However, people can choose to commit for as little as 1 month, while for some who are really keen it may be that they want to make a permanent change, such as giving up smoking.”

scosa is hoping that workplaces, schools and sporting clubs will embrace the challenge of Kick it. Mr Tobin added, “We see it as an opportunity for people of all ages to get involved. For instance, kids might like to try the challenge of spending no more than one hour on their iPads each day or committing to eating fruit and vegetables every day. For anyone who drives a car they may want to kick the dangerous habit of texting while driving.”

Port Adelaide Football Player Jackson Trengove together with local radio personalities Will Goodings from FIVEaa and Cale Porter from Nova919 have signed up as official scosa Kick it Ambassadors. scosa CEO Josie Kitch is certainly leading by example, having committed to 5 alcohol free days and 5 days of exercise every week until the end of October.

Daniel Nikoleaff, Regional Manager for Harris Scarfe said, “We were really excited to come on board as a major partner of the Kick it campaign as a company with a very proud history in South Australia. Harris Scarfe was attracted by the uniqueness of the campaign and the fact that it’s good for our employees and our customers – we all have a bad habit or two that we can kick.”

Ms Kitch said the funds raised will help scosa to support more South Australians living with disabilities.

“This campaign will enable us to provide a wider range of special programs to help each person at scosa to maximise their independence and potential.”

The official Kick it launch will be taking place at Hindmarsh Square at 10.00am on Tuesday 22 July 2014 (Pirie St end).
