South Australia has a new Queen and King!

CUCPChildhood dreams have become a reality for Credit Union SA’s Gemma Young and Beyond Bank Australia’s Ryan Holman, who were today officially crowned 2014 Credit Union Christmas Pageant Queen and King at Mamma Carmela’s Winter Wonderland in Moseley Square, Glenelg.

The credit union employees are now looking forward to the whirlwind of festive duties that come with their new royal status, ahead of Pageant Day on November 8.

This year’s Credit Union Christmas Pageant Queen Gemma, 43, said the crowning was not only a dream come true but also an opportunity to create new memories.

“I have 40 years of memories of the Credit Union Christmas Pageant and I can’t wait to now create memories for a new generation of South Australians. This is is a dream come true and I can honestly say I did not expect my name to be called out today. I am so very humbled,” Queen Gemma said.

Credit Union Christmas Pageant King Ryan, 25, impressed the judges with his sense of humour and strong desire to be a role model for young boys across the state.

“The Credit Union Christmas Pageant is a rare event where parents remember the experience they had and pass this experience on to their children. I can’t wait to create some of these experiences for South Australian children,” King Ryan said.

“Supporting communities is a core value of credit unions and taking on the role of Credit Union Christmas Pageant King will not only enable me to represent Beyond Bank Australia, but all the supporting credit unions.”

Credit Union Christmas Pageant Company Chair, Peter Evers, announced Gemma and Ryan as the 2014 Credit Union Christmas Pageant Queen and King at a public crowning ceremony at Mamma Carmela’s Winter Wonderland this afternoon (Wednesday 16 July) at 12:30pm.

“The Credit Union Christmas Pageant Royal Family will help spread the magic of Christmas to the community and to those who may not be able to attend on Pageant Day. They also have the important role of assisting Father Christmas on the big day,” Mr Evers said.

“The Credit Union Christmas Pageant is for the whole community and this year’s Royal Family will continue to engage the entire South Australian community through regional tours, school performances and a visit to the Women’s and Children’s Hospital.”

The Credit Union Christmas Pageant Queen and King are chosen by a panel of judges to assist in spreading the joy of Christmas to the community of South Australia.
