The South Australian Country Fire Service (CFS) has issued an update regarding the imminent fire danger across various districts within the state. Effective immediately, Total Fire Bans have been declared for several regions for the entirety of Saturday November 2nd. The regions under the fire ban include the West Coast, Eastern Eyre Peninsula, Lower Eyre Peninsula, Flinders, Mid North, Mount Lofty Ranges, Yorke Peninsula, Riverland, and Murraylands, with each listed at an extreme fire danger level.
Given the declared bans, residents are warned of very dangerous fire weather conditions anticipated throughout the duration. It is imperative that individuals and communities in these areas adhere strictly to safety protocols and initiate their bushfire survival plans.
The CFS clearly states that only well-prepared homes that are robustly constructed and actively defended may provide any real safety during a fire event under extreme conditions. The advice from the fire service is emphatic: for those without a robust plan, the safest course of action is to evacuate the area early before any fire outbreak.
Additional precautions recommended by CFS include extinguishing any burn-offs conducted today by no later than midnight tonight. Essential services, such as mains-fed electricity and water supplies, may be at risk of becoming non-operational due to the adverse conditions accompanying the high fire dangers. Locals are also urged to observe local harvest codes of practice, obtainable through municipal authorities.
In preparing for these conditions, agencies across applicable areas have been prompted to enact their Total Fire Ban procedures.
Keeping informed during this period is crucial. The CFS urges the public to stay updated through various channels. Information can be accessed directly through the CFS website, while updates will be disseminated through their Facebook and X social media platforms. The Alert SA Mobile App is also recommended for real-time notifications and emergency information.
