Weekend Australian Magazine has released its Hottest 50 Restaurants of 2019, with nine of South Australia’s best restaurants featuring.
Food Writer and Critique for The Australian, John Lethlean, has complied 50 of the best restaurants in the country that have opened in the last 18 months or have substantially been upgraded in the last 18 months including personnel, chefs and interior fit out.
Former MasterChef contestant Andre Ursini’s Orso took out Hottest Restaurant in South Australia.
John Lethlean described Ursini as a chef who made it clear early in his post-telly career that he had “the chops as a chef-restaurateur.”
A congratulations is also in order for Nido, with the restaurant winning Hottest Value.
Lethlean highlighted Nido‘s clever menu, commenting on its “punchy tastes that manages to offer up something new yet never strays too far away from the familiar ingredients and flavour profiles we all love.”
Other SA standouts that made the list include:
Gather @ Coriole – McLaren Vale
Herringbone – Adelaide
L’Italy – North Adelaide
Lot 100 – Hay Valley
Madre – Adelaide
Slate – Sevenhill
Sunset Food and Wine – Kangaroo Head
