SA opens the doors to more than $740 million in new development opportunities

SA is throwing open the doors to development opportunities, with the government inviting the private sector to help shape the state’s future.

South Australia is throwing open the doors to more than $740 million in fresh development opportunities, with the South Australian government inviting the private sector to help shape the state’s future.

The latest release of land under the government’s Developer Ready program is set to boost housing supply, attract investment, and fuel economic growth.

Minister for Housing and Urban Development, Nick Champion, said the state is ready and eager to work with developers to bring these projects to life.

“South Australia is open for business with a pipeline of development ready opportunities,” he said.

“We want to work with the private sector on important projects and invite proposals from local, national and international developers and investors.”

From residential estates to industrial sites, the newly released land spans Adelaide’s north and south.

In Elizabeth South, an 8.5-hectare site on John Rice Avenue is up for grabs for residential development, while three allotments in Munno Para’s Playford Alive precinct have been earmarked for medium-density housing and commercial use.

Industrial developers are also being invited to bid, with a 10.35-hectare site on Newhaven Road at East Grand Trunkway, and a 2.91-hectare allotment on Gidgie Court in Edinburgh now on the table.

“There’s a wide variety of projects available that will stimulate the local economy and deliver important housing and employment opportunities,” Nick said.

But the biggest opportunity is still to come. In the coming months, the government plans to release a 68-hectare site at Onkaparinga Heights, with space for around 1,000 new homes, along with a 1-hectare industrial allotment at Gillman.

This latest wave of land releases follows more than $2 billion in development projects offered up last year, including headline sites like Southwark, Tapangka on Franklin, and major projects on North Terrace, Bowden, and across regional South Australia.

Property Council SA Executive Director Bruce Djite welcomed the government’s move, saying it’s a positive step toward building stronger communities.

“Industry welcomes the government’s Developer Ready program, and we commend the government for bringing these desperately needed land parcels to market,” said Bruce.

He added that collaboration would be key to making the most of these opportunities, and the future is looking good.

“South Australia has a bright future ahead but for the state to fulfill its potential the government and industry must work together like never before. Developing these parcels of land to their best and highest use will deliver jobs, homes, economic growth and attract much needed capital to the state,” he said.

All up, it’s a bold investment in South Australia’s future, setting the stage for new homes, new jobs, and a city that’s ready to grow.
