New and upcoming clothing brand, Lexi Clothing hit the runway at New York Fashion Week this year. This makes it one of the first South Australian labels to be showcased at the impressive designer events being held this September in the Big Apple. Lexi was in good company, as Australian designers Zimmerman, Dion Lee and TOME also made their debut at New York Fashion Week in 2014.
Created in 2012, Lexi has been under-the-radar whilst building up a strong customer base including former Miss Universe, Jennifer Hawkins who has been spotted wearing a leather Lexi skirt. A team of talented designers collaborated up to create the amazing collections that have so far been produced by the growing label.
Lexi was featured on the Fashion Palette Ready To Wear runway show in New York on the 8th of September, showcasing their brand new collection. While in NY the Lexi team were able to shoot for their new SS2015 campaign which included some the the pieces from the Fashion Palette parade and featured the stunning finale dress. The shoot took place all over New York including Fifth Avenue and at The Plaza Hotel.
Lexi Clothing have already released four collections which show the diversity of the label. From everyday high-end “essentials” including leather jeans, leggings and skirts all in stretch lamb skin leather, to their beautful gowns and cocktail wear, Lexi clearly demonstrates their rich pedigree in Couture. Their strong ready-to-wear line has multi seasonal collections being released four times a year.
Pat Georgiou, one of the designers from iconic South Australian fashion label Alexis George is also involved in the more accessible Lexi label, and that association shines through. Lexi embodies the glamorous essence synonymous with Alexis George, which has been worn by many celebrities including Australian R&B, pop idol, Jessica Mauboy and Mrs International Australia 2013, Jordiane Chattaway.
Lexi Clothing is also being requested overseas by supermodel Erin Watson, fashion designer Nicole Richie and Mrs Kanye West, Kim Kardashian.
New York was just the beginning of Lexi’s journey, “NY Fashion week was an amazing experience, we have had a great reception and and are now looking to branch out into the International market” says Pat Georgiou.
The Lexi store on Unley road is currently undergoing a major expansion which will see them joining with the existing Alexis George boutique.
