South Australian Restaurants Make The Cut On To Coveted Lists

Some of South Australia’s most highly regarded restaurants have been recognised nationally by two very special ‘restaurant lists’. See the restaurants that made the lists here…

As we all know, Adelaide’s restaurant scene is no joke. Anyone who says that Adelaide is boring and has nowhere good to eat, well, they just have no idea what they are talking about! Adelaide, and South Australia as a whole, is totally up there with Sydney and Melbourne when it comes to some of the best food venues in the country. SA the food state… it has a nice ring to it!

Recently the acclaimed magazine and online powerhouse of food, Gourmet Traveller Australia, announced their coveted Top 100 Restaurants list for 2016. Jock Zonfrillo’s Orana made number 10, a massive achievement, but no surprise as this restaurant has been kicking all sorts of goals since it first opened. As South Australia’s only restaurant to make the Gourmet Traveller’s top 10, we say hats off to you Orana! What a special achievement.

Penfolds Magill Estate Restaurant just missed the top ten, coming in at number 11 and the Barossa’s Appelation also appeared on the list at number 54. Duncan Welgemoed’s taste of Africa, Africola, came in at number 60 and Peel St rounds out the five South Aussie restaurants that made it to the list at number 81.

Not to be outdone, The Australian has also released their Hot 50 Restaurants of 2015 list (in no particular order). Obviously multiple South Australian eateries made it to this list (how could they not)!

Africola, the Botanic Gardens Restaurant, Etica, Magill Estate and Orana all got a nod. Plus Fino Seppeltsfield took out the Hottest in SA and Hottest Service on the list, while Peel St was named for Hottest Value.

All in all, a fantastic result for our South Australian restaurants and booming food industry! Congratulations to all those who made the lists and we can’t wait to see who makes next year’s lists. We have no doubt that there will be even more Adelaide and South Australian restaurants on the lists next year!

We recently dined at one of the Hot 50 Restaurants of 2015, check out our review on everyone’s favourite Italian pizzeria right here in Adelaide, Etica:
