This Adelaide Hills Favourite has been growing in popularity since its opening on the Bird in Hand estate in 2024, and has collected many accolades along the way. With its feature on The Australian’s ’10 best Australian restaurants worth travelling for’ being the most recent.
The list aims to source new eateries around the country that are worth visiting whilst travelling Australia that share both a buzzy ambience and polished sensibility. LVN is the only venue to represent South Australia on the exciting list, and we believe it does our state proud.

LVN’s unique space was been designed by renowned Australian interior designer Georgie Shepard to reflect Bird in Hand’s commitment to art and culinary excellence. The beautiful, earthy interiors complement the Woodside estates’ glorious vineyard views and make the dining experience a treat for not only the tastebuds, but the eyes as well. Attention to detail is a running theme through LVN, from the layout to cutlery, and from the kitchen to the wine, each element is thoughtfully designed to give its patrons the best experience possible.
With a focus on native ingredients, Executive Chef Jacob Davey has been the heart of the operation, sourcing local ingredients inspired by the three homes of Bird in Hand, Peramangk (Woodside), Ngarrindjeri (Finnis) and Paredareme (Tasmania). Despite working throughout Europe to hone his craft, Chef Davey is a South Australian local, and that passion for his home state is reflected in his prioritisation of local ingredients.
Chef Davey said, “To be listed alongside some of the nation’s best is pretty surreal, but also a testament to our team and this culinary experience that we pour so much into.”
“There were only two regional Australian restaurants that made the list, so it makes me really proud to showcase the Adelaide Hills on this national scale. Our humble Hills are ever-growing as a world-class destination, not just for our impeccable wines, but now more than ever, our culinary offerings too. That’s also largely thanks to our neighbours, like Ondeen in Verdun, Thelma in Piccadilly and, coming soon, Restaurant Aptos in Stirling. I wholeheartedly believe this region deserves all the recognition it is getting,” Chef Davey continued.
The menu is ever changing to keep the produce seasonal and the experience fresh. It’s designed to dazzle, with seven to ten dishes being served over the three-hour seating, ranging from impactful bite-sized delights to larger composed dishes.
The wine pairing is an excellent way to experience why Bird in Hand has garnered such popularity, with wines thoughtfully paired with each dish to enhance and complement the flavours of the unique menu.

“LVN is not far past its first birthday, so to have received so many national accolades in this short time is truly gratifying,” Chef Davey said. “It’s a labour of love, and we are grateful to each and every guest, whether a local or tourist, who walks through our doors and trusts us to take them on this unique culinary journey,” he concluded.
As if we ever need an excuse to visit the wineries of the Adelaide Hills, LVN making this list has given us a good reason to pop in to Bird in Hand and experience the culinary delights Jacob Davey has to share with us, and to see why The Australian has deemed LVN one of the best South Australia has to offer.
