South Australia’s New Wrestling Calendar

South Australian wrestling fans now have a new one-stop calendar that includes everything from films, wrestling meet-ups, and professional shows.

South Australian wrestling fans now have a new one-stop wrestling calendar that includes everything from wrestling meet-ups and professional shows to wrestling-related films.

The Wrestling for Fun collective already provides a comprehensive list of SA wrestling resources on their website, from training academies to sumo wrestling suit hires. Their evolution of wrestling resources now expands to a Calendar of Events that includes professional bouts, wrestling films, and their own meet-ups for guys who just enjoy the machismo of wrestling.

“There are so many amazing wrestling companies and schools in South Australia,” says the collective’s coordinator, “but they all just promote their own events. Likewise, you have unique events like February’s Japanese Film Festival, offering free films streamed online, including a documentary about sumo wrestling.”

He goes on to explain that there has been no place for wrestling fans to easily access everything that’s going on.

“We aim to capture all of these unique experiences in our calendar.”

The South Australian Wrestling Calendar includes the collective’s own 6-weekly meet-ups, and South Australian events from outfits like Riot City Wrestling, Pro Wrestling SA, Adelaide Championship Wrestling, Wrestling Australia, Australian Youth Outreach Wrestling Program, Powerslam Wrestling, and random independent events like the Adelaide Fringe and the Japanese Film Festival.

Now in its 11th year, Adelaide’s Wrestling for Fun collective is an informal LGBTQI+ friendly men’s social collective for guys who enjoy wrestling just for the fun of it. They don’t compete against other teams, but train and support their own participants to enjoy the machismo of grappling. Experienced participants commit to training and encouraging new participants. It’s all about fun, fitness and the comradery that comes with grappling another guy.

The South Australian Wrestling Calendar can be found on their website where you can also learn more about the collective: https://wrestlingforfun.wordpress.com/events-calendar/
