South Australians Can Now Get Up To $6,000 Rebate For a Solar Battery

Been thinking about getting a battery for your home? Now might be the time to do it with the state government announcing a new home battery scheme.

Through the scheme, you can access up to a $6,000 rebate on home batteries.

The battery hooks into your solar panels – if you don’t have these, they would need to be bought separately – and works by storing excess generation from your solar panels during the day providing stored energy to be used when the sun goes down.

The subsidy is available to all South Australians, and calculated on the kilowatt hour capacity of the battery purchased. So the bigger the battery you buy, the bigger the rebate, up to $6000.

And you don’t even need to own your home. With approval from the homeowner, you can have a battery installed to link in to existing solar panels. But keep in mind, you won’t be able to take it with you if you move – the battery system has to stay at the property.
