South Australians who are eligible for household concessions for the 2024-25 financial year are encouraged to apply before the December deadline.

South Australians who are eligible for household concessions for the 2024-25 financial year are encouraged to apply before the December 31st deadline. These concessions, available to people on low or fixed incomes, offer a range of financial support to help with the cost of living.

Currently, over 215,000 households in SA, or about a quarter of all households, benefit from these concessions, which can include assistance for energy, water, sewerage, medical heating and cooling, as well as the Emergency Services Levy. Many eligible households have yet to apply for the support they are entitled to.

Applications for the 2024-25 Cost of Living Concession must be submitted by December 31st 2024. Eligibility is based on circumstances as of July 1st 2024, and people can apply for other household concessions at any time.

Eligible households can receive up to $1,100 in annual financial support across various household concessions. Some of the key benefits include:

  • Free 24/7 public transport for more than 400,000 Seniors Card members.
  • A permanent doubling of the Cost-of-Living Concession payment this year for renters and self-funded retirees.
  • From January 1st 2025, public transport concessions will be extended to all people with a Centrelink Health Care Card.
  • The Sports Voucher program will be boosted to provide two $100 grants from 2025 to help families with the cost of children’s extracurricular activities.
  • The materials and services charge subsidy for children attending government schools will be doubled from $100 to $200 from 2025.

New applicants can apply online at www.sa.gov.au/concessions or by calling the Concessions SA hotline on 1800 307 758 to request an application form by mail. Make sure to get your application in before the deadline of December 31st.
