The Royal Adelaide Show has crowned this year’s finest chocolatiers, with South Australian makers taking centre stage at the prestigious Chocolate Awards. From well-known local chocolatiers, to mighty-fine newcomers, this list shows off the who’s who in SA’s chocolate scene for 2025. The categories span chocolate blocks, boxes, and bars, and ultimately crown a 2025 Grand Champion.
Bracegirdles House of Fine Chocolate was the stand out this year, securing both Champion Boxed Chocolate and the coveted Grand Champion Chocolate with its Signature Selection. Bracegirdles recently opened their newest location in a beautiful heritage cottage in Hahndorf.
Shen Fang-Ju impressed judges with the Cappuccino Bar and Tipsy Desert, while Coal River Farm’s Raspberry Champagne Truffle took home Champion Truffle or Ganache Chocolate.
Angela Centofanti was recognised with the Bracegirdles Trophy for Champion Amateur Chocolatier for her Strawberry Matcha Latte creation.
Stirling’s Hokey Pokey, known for its artisan ice cream and handcrafted chocolate, claimed Champion Block Chocolate with its 64% Dark Chocolate Block. In a social media post, the team said, “We entered the chocolate awards for the first time this year and are so glad we did. Proud doesn’t even begin to describe it, makes all the hard work worth it!”
Coal River Farm’s Raspberry Champagne Truffle earned the title of Champion Truffle or Ganache Chocolate.
Chief Judge Jon McMckeigue said in a statement, that the standard continues to rise, and that this year’s competition was the toughest to judge yet. Judging was carried out by Jon McMckeigue, Ernst Schutt, Jenni Key and Paul Gillis.
