South Australia’s AFL Gather Round is officially a sell-out

All nine AFL Gather Game matches in South Australia have officially sold out the last remaining tickets were snapped up overnight!

We’ve done it SA, all nine AFL Gather Game matches are officially sold out! After 47,435 fans attended the opening game between Adelaide Crows and Carlton at the Adelaide Oval, the last remaining tickets were snapped up overnight.

Nearly 200,000 tickets have now been sold across the nine matches from April 13th-16th held at three premier venues, the iconic Adelaide Oval and Norwood Oval in the CBD, and Recreation Park in the Adelaide Hills.

It’s set to bring a whole host of tourists to our beautiful state. Today is the biggest of the event’s four days for the Adelaide Airport, with an expected 34,000 passengers flying into the city to ‘Gather Round’.

“This is a footy weekend like no other we have experienced in our nation’s history – so it is only fitting that it’s driven hotel bookings like never before and our city’s airport is experiencing its busiest four days since before COVID,” Minister for Tourism Zoe Bettison.

Yesterday, South Australian Premier Peter Malinauskas was pulling out all the public relations stops to make sure the last of the nine games sold out, challenging the Adelaide football public to turn up in droves for the Swans’ clash against the Tigers.

This morning, he proudly announced that we achieved that goal and urges ticket holders who can’t go to give it to a friend or exchange it on the Ticketek app/website.

Fans wanting tickets are encouraged to keep checking the Ticketek website, as more tickets become available throughout the day. Almost 1000 tickets were returned yesterday to last night’s Adelaide vs Carlton match, which were then purchased by new fans who were able to attend.

It’s not just Adelaidians who will enjoy the festivities as we plunge into AFL madness, but the

There will be entertainment galore as the city comes alight.

The Pepsi Max Footy Festival will take place over two host sites – Elder Park and Pinky Flat, on the banks of the River Torrens in Adelaide.

Australian electronic music group Peking Duk performed at last night’s opening game between Adelaide and Carlton while Australian twins The Veronicas will play on Saturday before the Port Adelaide and Western Bulldogs match.

Six Australian DJs will also entertain fans throughout the Gather Round.

It’s a very exciting time, so it’s no wonder Malinauskas also made a public pitch to keep Gather Round in SA beyond the inaugural edition in 2023, saying the state’s history as a sports-mad, football-loving population made it the ideal choice.
