It’s no secret to locals that South Australia makes some pretty darn delicious gin and now it’s starting to be recognised on the world stage.
Local gin geniuses Ambleside Distillers have hit a pretty huge milestone being named Australia’s Best Gin in last week’s 2022 London Spirits Competition.
Scoring 93 points and taking home a Gold award and Best in Show for Australia, Ambleside’s Big Dry Gin lives up to its name distilled with jalapeño, lime leaf, sage, rosemary and thyme and is best enjoyed in a dirty martini, so you know what we’ll be indulging in tonight in celebration.
The London Spirits Competition aims to promote consumer-driven brands and make the decision on its winners based on quality, value for money and look. All chosen winners are of the highest quality and offer something to both the trader and the consumer.
The award comes as the label unveil their fun, fresh new look with a vibrant rebrand. Reflecting the vibrancy of the Adelaide Hills, the new logo and bottle design was designed to tell a story and has a lot of meaning to owners Matt, Trudy and Steve Dickson.
Ambleside Distillers is a parent and son family-owned business with the Adelaide Hills-based distillery first opening its doors back in 2016. Since then Ambleside have seen exponential growth with an expansion to its Hahndorf Cellar Door late last year seeing the family-run business branch into the world of whiskey as well as gin.
