Fishbank Bar and Grill in Adelaide has clinched the title of “Best Seafood Restaurant” at the 2023 Restaurant & Catering Hostplus Awards for Excellence in South Australia.
Nestled in the heart of Adelaide at the iconic 1920s bank building on King William Street, Fishbank has transformed the space into a modern, airy haven that pays homage to its art deco roots. The restaurant quickly become a beacon for seafood enthusiasts.
Fishbank’s philosophy is simple yet profound: serve only the freshest, most sustainably sourced seafood from Australian waters. The restaurant receives whole fish daily, which are then meticulously prepared with precision and care. This dedication to freshness and quality is palpable in every dish served.
In a unique culinary twist, Fishbank also adopts a technique usually reserved for prime cuts of beef: dry-aging certain species of fish. This process enhances the flavor and texture of the fish, offering a unique dining experience to its patrons.
But it’s not just about serving great food. Fishbank is committed to a ‘fin to scale’ approach, utilizing every part of the fish wherever possible. This sustainable practice aligns with the restaurant’s ethos of respecting the fish food chain and the planet.
Fishbank’s win at the R&CA Awards is a recognition of its exceptional contribution to South Australia’s renowned food and wine scene. The restaurant stands as a shining example of how culinary excellence and sustainability can go hand in hand, setting a benchmark for seafood dining not just in South Australia, but across the country.
