South Australia’s biggest sculpture exhibition, Brighton Jetty Sculptures, is back in 2025, offering the chance to explore some of the best art produced locally. Running until the 2nd of February, this event is a perfect and free way for beachgoers and art enthusiasts to experience fantastic pieces.
Organised by a group of volunteers from the Brighton Surf Life Saving Club, the event not only showcases incredible local art but also supports a good cause by channelling funds back into the club. To date, the festival has generated over $600,000 for the Brighton Surf Life Saving Club.
The initiative was inspired by the now-famous Sculpture by the Sea exhibition held at and around Cottesloe Surf Life Saving Club in Perth, WA. Brighton club members saw an opportunity to promote local artists and provide them with a platform to publicly display their works. This initiative has created a unique event that blends the arts with sports, as Brighton Jetty Sculptures culminates with the Brighton Jetty Classic Swim.
2025 marks the 17th year of the festival, which has grown significantly since its inception in 2008. The first year featured just 34 sculptures by 14 artists. These days, over 200 sculptures are displayed. Throughout the festival’s run, it is estimated that 8,000 to 10,000 visitors attend daily.
This year, a small $5 entry fee for adults (free for under-16s) has been introduced for the indoor sculpture marquees, where you can experience a magical world of 170 stunning sculptures. The 70 outdoor sculptures remain free to view.
Simply head to the marquee entrance and “tap & go” your $5 or drop cash into the Brighton Surf Life Saving Club tin to receive a wrist stamp for the day. If you purchase a sculpture, your entry fee is waived.
This event not only offers a fantastic way to enjoy great art but also provides a platform for artists to be judged by a panel of professionals. This year’s judges include Australian Postwar & Contemporary painter Peter Coad, event ambassador Diané Ranck OAM, and Country Arts SA Chief Executive Anthony Peluso.
Brighton Jetty Sculptures awards exceptional artists across several categories, including Outdoor, Indoor, Relief/Wall Hung, and Youth Artist (ages 10–17). Prizes include $6,000 for the Outdoor Prize, various runner-up awards, and $1,000 each for the Environmental Awareness and Youth Artist prizes, highlighting the event’s dedication to art and community engagement.
Brighton Jetty Sculptures 2025 continues its legacy as South Australia’s premier sculpture exhibition, blending art, community spirit, and stunning beachside views!
