South Australia’s new Queen and King!

Pageant King QueenChildhood dreams have come true this week for People’s Choice Credit Union employees Natalie Menz and Kym Burls, who have been named 2013 Credit Union Christmas Pageant Queen and King. The credit union couple are celebrating their new royal status and looking forward to the whirlwind of festive activity that will span the next four months until Pageant Day on November 9.

This year’s Credit Union Christmas Pageant Queen Natalie, 30, said she was both surprised and humbled to be crowned Queen and was particularly looking forward to spreading the Christmas spirit throughout the South Australian community.

“I can’t wait to take the magic of the Credit Union Christmas Pageant to regional schools, hospitals and special needs centres, especially to those who are unable to attend on pageant day” Queen Natalie said.

“It is also very humbling to be crowned Queen, the other princesses are so fantastic and I honestly did not expect to hear my name called out today.”

Credit Union Christmas Pageant King Kym, 32, impressed the judges with his commitment to becoming a role model for young boys across the state.

“Being crowned Credit Union Christmas Pageant King is a real honour, and not something I take lightly. It is a real thrill to know that I will be bringing the same excitement and joy that I remember from the Pageant as a kid to the next generation,” said King Kym.

“Representing People’s Choice Credit Union also allows me the opportunity to embody the core value of the credit unions – supporting our communities.”

Credit Union Christmas Pageant Company Chair, Peter Evers, announced Natalie and Kym as the 2013 Credit Union Christmas Pageant Queen and King at a public crowning ceremony in the Mortlock Chamber of the State Library of South Australia on Thursday 18 July at 11:45am.

“The Credit Union Christmas Pageant Royal Family have one of the most important roles in the lead up to and on Pageant Day and we are extremely confident that this year’s Royals are more than up to the task. They are sure to be a great help to Father Christmas on the big day,” said Mr Evers.

“The Credit Union Christmas Pageant is for everyone not just those who can attend on November 9, and the Credit Union Christmas Pageant Royal Family will help spread the Christmas spirit far and wide in the coming months.”

The Credit Union Christmas Pageant Queen and King are chosen by a panel of celebrity judges and a tally of public votes to assist in spreading the joy of Christmas to the community of South Australia.
