At the prestigious gala dinner hosted by Restaurant & Catering Australia (R&CA) at Zinc Fed Square in Melbourne, the 2024 Restaurant & Catering Hostplus National Awards for Excellence winners have been announced. This program is renowned for recognising exceptional hospitality dining and service across various categories.
Restaurant & Catering (R&CA) CEO Suresh Manickam acknowledged all the National finalists and the winners. He described the National Awards as the final highlight following the state and territory awards. Manickam stated, “We are pleased to celebrate the achievements of Australia’s most distinguished operators. To achieve Gold, Silver or Bronze at the National Awards is an indicator of the hard work and culinary excellence our winners have to offer the dining public.”
He continued to praise the industry, highlighting the vital contributions from all involved, from chefs and restaurateurs to staff and suppliers, who collectively shape Australia’s culinary identity and enhance customer experiences.
Cape Restaurant at RACV Cape Schanck Resort was a standout, securing the Restaurant of the Year and Premium Dining Restaurant titles. Ripples Little Manly was awarded Gold for Best Casual Dining and Café Dining. Another highlight was Sydney’s European Catering, which won National Caterer of the Year and Gold in the Events Caterer category.
South Australian businesses showed strong performance in various categories. Paulett Wines & Bush DeVine Restaurant clinched Gold for Contemporary Australian Restaurant (Informal). Mariners Ristorante excelled with Gold in the Italian Restaurant (Informal) category and Silver for Seafood Restaurant (Informal). Additionally, Clover + Stone Restaurant at Howard Vineyard secured a Gold for ‘Restaurant in a Winery’.
The Trippas White Group from SA received a Gold award for Education Caterer at Immanuel College and further recognition for their work in schools across WA and Victoria. Events at SkyCity Adelaide and Civeo, Prominent Hill Village both took top awards in the Event/Convention Centre Caterer and Industrial Caterer categories, respectively.
Other SA honours included Adelaide’s Concubine, which earned Silver in the Chinese Restaurant category. Watervale Hotel also took Silver for Restaurant in a Pub/Club, and Est Ovest received Silver for best Pizza Restaurant. The Tasting Room at Mayura Station and the Meat & Wine Co were awarded Silver in the Steak Restaurant (formal) and Steak Restaurant (informal) categories respectively. Mai Kitchen was recognised with Bronze for best Vietnamese Restaurant.
Manickam expressed his gratitude to all winners, sponsors, and attendees, noting the importance of their dedication to the success of the industry.
