The Jodi Lee Foundation and Spartan Electrical today announced a new partnership that will see the leading South Australian electrical retailer commit vital funds towards bowel cancer prevention, while also helping the charity raise awareness of Australia’s second biggest cancer killer.

The partnership has already proven to be lifesaving, with the implementation of the Foundation’s Corporate Bowel Screening Program at Spartan Electrical leading to the detection and removal of pre-cancerous polyps in the company’s founder.

Founder and CEO of The Jodi Lee Foundation, Nick Lee, said the partnership promises to expand the Foundation’s reach, and help promote its messages about the importance of screening regularly and leading a healthy and active lifestyle to prevent bowel cancer.

“Spartan is an outstanding South Australian business with a long history of supporting worthy charities. We’re very excited to have them on board as a partner and we look forward to working with them in a number of areas,” Nick said.

Spartan Electrical is sponsoring The SA Hiking Challenge on May 22 and 23, and a group of employees and management have entered the event as Team Spartan, taking on the 80km challenge through the State’s Copper Country in the mid-north.

Owner, Chris Tsoutouras, says the new partnership will allow Spartan to continue its focus on giving back to the community in a meaningful way, with a new focus on bowel cancer prevention.

“We couldn’t be happier with our decision to support The Jodi Lee Foundation and the great work it does both here in South Australia and at a national level,” Chris said.

“Its Corporate Bowel Screening Program is just one of a range of important initiatives that send a very clear message – be proactive about your health and screen regularly to prevent bowel cancer.

“My father, and founder of Spartan Electrical, screened through the corporate program and as a result had polyps removed that the surgeon said would have developed into bowel cancer. We are grateful to The Jodi Lee Foundation for providing the opportunity for our employees and management to screen for this silent killer, and we look forward to a successful partnership ahead,” Chris said.
