As Bali remains one of the most popular tourist destinations among Aussies, with thousands of us flocking there each year, more direct routes in and out of the island are hotly desired.
Speculation is growing amid rumours that AirAsia is set to touch down in Adelaide and provide flights to and from Denpasar, with an Airbus A320 aircraft serving this route four times a week. Allegedly, this would kick off sometime around the middle of this year.
If this is true, AirAsia would join Jetstar, which is currently the only airline providing direct flights on this route. This comes as Virgin put its direct service between Adelaide and Bali on hold last year.
When speaking with officials at Adelaide Airport, they stated that this exciting new service is yet to be confirmed.
“Adelaide Airport has been in discussions with AirAsia however we haven’t received confirmation from the airline on a new service at this time,” shared Aviation Business Development Manager Jonathan Cheong.
AirAsia currently provides flights to the tropical paradise from Sydney, Cairns, Melbourne, and Perth. In January, AirAsia announced their return to the Northern Territory, with a new direct flight from Darwin to Denpasar three times a week. A new direct route from Adelaide would be the icing on the cake!
With Jetstar currently being the only airline providing direct flights connecting the cities, these are in high demand.
“Bali is as popular as ever for South Australians looking for an affordable and convenient escape,” shared Jetstar’s Executive Manager, Customer, Jenn Armor.
“To support strong demand on the route, late last year we added more than 55,000 low fares seats on 240 new direct flights between Adelaide and Bali, which will operate between late March and October.
“With one way fares available for just $309, it’s a great time to plan ahead and lock in a tropical escape over the cooler months in Adelaide.”
If you’re keen on a Bali trip this year, Jetstar has heaps of great offers and deals that’ll get you directly in and out of Indonesia. Who knows? Maybe in the next few months, another airline will start providing direct flights.
