“Just a local business doing our thing,” say the team at Spill the Beans.

And they are doing it to perfection.

The boutique Linden Park café is a family affair, owned by Maxine and Nick Ikonomopoulos, with their daughter, Gina Skipper.

The trio has been serving up quality food in a friendly, laidback atmosphere since taking over the business almost two years ago.

Its a true culinary experience, with an all-day breakfast menu and generous portions, you won’t leave hungry.

“We aim to please and we really love what we’re doing,” Maxine says.

Customer favourites include mushroom toast, smashed avocado (arguably the best in Adelaide) and halloumi buns.

The small but impressive menu also features fully loaded bruschetta, omelettes, French crepes and a vego delight.

Maxine does the cooking and regularly has specials inspired by popular dishes from around the world – think Greek moussaka and Middle Eastern shakshuka.

“Mum is Greek and has a real passion for food,” Gina explains.

“She really cares about what she puts on the plate.”

The family ran a pizza bar and restaurant in Coober Pedy for 30 years and Maxine and Nick were semi-retired in Adelaide when the opportunity came up – and they haven’t looked back.

While COVID-19 has impacted them like so many other businesses, they say they are now busier than ever.

With seating indoors and outdoors on the deck (dogs most welcome!) under the vines, Spill the Beans is an ideal destination for brunch or coffee.

Spill the Beans is open for breakfast and lunch seven days a week, and can be found at 89 Deveraux Rd, Linden Park.
