‘Spit on the Lawn for Dad’: Anvers Wines’ flavour feast for Father’s Day

Anvers Wines is hosting its inaugural Father’s Day event, featuring slow-turned spit roasted pork and lamb and a complimentary glass of Shiraz.

Anvers Wines spoilt The Adelaide Hills with the addition of a new cellar door, restaurant, and wedding venue earlier this year, and now they want to spoil all you dads with a modern dining experience for Father’s Day.

Join Anvers Wines for ‘Spit on the Lawn for Dad’ – a day filled with picturesque views, a great atmosphere, and slow-turned spit roasted pork and lamb.

The Father’s Day feast will mark Anvers Wines’ first hosted event after its significant reopening in May 2022.

After personally growing up camping and cooking outdoors with family, Head Chef Michael Ielasi says the smell of fire and being outside is a “very comforting feeling”, offering something a bit special this Father’s Day.

“This will be our first themed event and it seemed like a good fit,” says Michael. “The venue, the food and the atmosphere is also very family orientated.”

“I chose slow turned spit roast because of the flavour of the fire but also the texture of the meat is second to none,” Michael continued. “We wanted to create an experience that most can’t just whip up at home.”

With a complimentary glass of 2019 Razorback Road Shiraz in hand, dad’s will be treated to an indoor-outdoor afternoon of shared plates, with picturesque views of the Estate Vineyards, sitting within an elegantly furnished dining area.

The day will be soundtracked by the smooth tunes of local Adelaide duo, Lost & Found. The exceptionally talented duo plays guitars, the keyboard and ukuleles, covering all styles of music from the 50s through to today.

Lunch will begin with coal-cooked local lamb cutlets and wood-fried king prawns. There is also a delightful vegetarian option available, so we wouldn’t blame you if you decided to single-handedly devour the dish of Mediterranean chickpea and cous cous salad.

The main event may steal the attention away from dad for a split second, as the slow turned spit roast makes its debut. The locally sourced roasted pork and lamb will be served with an Adelaide Hills Apple Remoulade, and wood oven roasted seasonal veggies.

Finally, satisfy that sweet tooth with a spice pumpkin crème brulee or Anvers’ infamous ice cream sandwich – or in other words, as some might say, the perfect ending for Dad Day.

While it is “come at your own peril” depending on the weather, the outside menu will be in full operation including a mouth-watering pulled pork burger. Enjoy Anvers’ landscaped outdoor tables and picnic rugs on the lawn, as the spring weather (hopefully) shines for dads on Father’s Day.
