Clare Valley’s annual paddock-to-plate food festival, the Festival of Lamb, is returning for another year of lamb dinners, garden parties, and wool fairs.
Coinciding with the spring equinox, the Festival of Lamb celebrates the region’s premium food and wine sourced from local producers, and where better to enjoy that than the Watervale Hotel?
The Watervale, which recently won best restaurant in a pub/club and Chef of the Year, is hosting a cooking masterclass, a myriad of feed me menus, and – of course – the Spring Equinox Penobscot Farm Tour and Lamb Degustation dinner.
Since Ancient times, the Spring Equinox has represented new life and new beginnings. As the first buds bloom on the vines and a new season for lamb has begun, Watervale offers the full paddock-to-plate experience.
Penobscot Farm is the Watervale Hotel’s complementary organic, bio-dynamic produce farm that drives the seasonal menu and fresh tasty food offering at the venue. The tour will give guests the opportunity to learn how they grow their produce, the benefits of their organic and regenerative practices, and harvest produce for the dinner to come.
As guests return to the Watervale, they’ll be able to take a tour of the Kitchen Garden and Hotel before diving into a six-course degustation dinner with lamb the hero of each dish – even the dessert!
With each course matched with a Clare Valley wine or a mocktail made with Warndu tea and Penobscot botanicals, the dinner promises to be a great introduction to Clare’s Festival of Lamb.
For a more hands-on experience, guests also have the option to participate in the Feast For The Senses cooking masterclass.
Harvest your vegetables and prepare them with the trusty guidance of Chef of the Year, Nicola Palmer. Nicola will show you how all four courses – including dessert – can be prepared from one lamb shoulder.
Limited at only 10 guests, this is a highly exclusive event with one of Adelaide’s best.
Finally, if you want to eat and only eat, Watervale will be serving a variety of decadent feed me menus, where local lamb is the star of the show.
Clare Valley’s festival of lamb makes its dining experiences as ethical as possible by providing each participating restaurant, venue, and hotel with a full lamb from a local farmer. Chefs then find the best ways to use the food, leaving nothing to waste.
