The award-winning St. Kilda playground is undergoing a four stage, $3.55 million upgrade including changes to the castle, volcano and the introduction of a giant bouncy boomerang.

Stage 1 was completed earlier this year with the installation of a 25-metre bouncy boomerang, a new basketball court, new park furniture, new landscaping and electric barbeques and shade.Volcano Progress

Now it is only weeks away from the completion of Stage 2, which involves a significant upgrade to the Volcano with new lava slides, bridges, and stairs.

The third stage of the renewal is the most exciting, says City of Salisbury Mayor Gillian Aldridge. Stage 3 will see the installation of a new and larger castle, featuring both internal and external slides, fire poles, soft fall rubber, and a drawbridge. Mayor Aldridge explained that the new castle will “be 13.9 metres to the top of the spire”, more than double the current height.

The final stage of the St. Kilda Playground upgrade will see the installation of a new tram stop from the St. Kilda Tram Museum, as well as other new amenities.

Mayor Aldridge believes that this renewal will bring a sense of adventure and magic to a whole new generation.
