Thunderstorms, heavy rain, hail and strong winds forecast across South Australia in coming days have sparked a Code Blue starting at 5pm today.

Across the state:
- Homeless Connect SA will continue to operate 24/7. Anyone who is homeless or at risk of homelessness is encouraged to contact Homeless Connect SA on 1800 003 308. This service can assist with emergency accommodation and is available 24/7, every day of the year.
Minister for Social Services Nat Cook said “Rough weather in recent weeks has promoted several Code Blues already. These responses help people experiencing homelessness who are most affected by extreme winter weather to remain warm and safe.”
“I encourage rough sleepers, or anyone who knows a rough sleeper, to call Homeless Connect SA – these services are here to help.”
“Rain makes it difficult for people sleeping rough to stay dry and when you add wind into the mix, it creates added safety and can pose significant health risks, such as hypothermia.”
HOW TO HELP
Code Blues are called with little notice, and often, rough sleepers are the last to know. If you’re in the city, and you see someone sleeping rough, or sitting in a doorway, share with them that a Code Blue has been called and refer them to the Hutt Street Centre, which will operate extended hours. If you’re in the suburbs, refer to the list above. Alternatively, print this article out and share with rough sleepers in your area.
