Hear ye! Hear ye!

Calling noble folk near and far, to gather for the most splendid event of the year—the 2025 SA Medieval Fair is back at Paracombe this May, and it’s set to be the grandest yet.

Celebrating 32 glorious years of medieval tradition, this legendary event is ready to transport you back in time for an unforgettable weekend. Expect thrilling battles, grand feasts, and the rich culture of the medieval world, you won’t want to miss this!

What started as a humble gathering in Birdwood has since evolved into one of the most anticipated events in the Adelaide Hills. This year’s fair is going to be a true spectacle, celebrating the amazing medieval and living history groups, food vendors, and performers who have been an integral part of the event since its inception. These groups make up the heart and soul of the fair, providing an experience that’s fun for all ages.

Fairgoers can also look forward to exciting new performers at this year’s event. They’ll, of course, be joining a long list of regular favourites. Over the weekend, there will be Historical Punch & Judy performances, jesters, jugglers, dancers, and musicians roving through the grounds.

If you’re keen to get in on all the action, the main arena will see fierce knights clash in battle, while living history encampments transport you back in time. Watch Roman gladiators fight for glory, or take part in a medieval archery session. And if that’s not enough, there will also be live jousting, skill at arms displays, and even horseback archery. You can also try your hand at LARPing (Live Action Role Play) or check out a blacksmithing demonstration to see artisans at work.

For those who love a bit of shopping, the fair will feature 100 stalls, showcasing local and interstate talent with unique handmade wares. Artisans will also be demonstrating trades from a bygone era, giving you a glimpse into history while you browse. And don’t forget the free face painting for the little ones.

A special part of this year’s fair is the ‘Quest of the Peasant’s Path Showbag’. This special item allows you to visit 20 ‘Quest’ sites around the fairgrounds to collect free gifts and enter a daily prize draw.

Foodies will be delighted as local vendors will be serving up dishes from all over the world. These can be enjoyed in the Feasting Marquee, which will have local musicians entertaining you while you eat. For those looking for a more relaxed atmosphere, the Pale Raven Tavern is the perfect spot to sip on mulled wine, handcrafted beers, or a glass of local wine from Paracombe Wines while listening to the tavern band play.

The 2025 SA Medieval Fair is welcoming to families, with public and disabled parking, a dedicated mothers’ and babies’ area, and a kid’s quiet zone for a more relaxing experience. And don’t forget, companion cards are accepted.

Also, remember to break out your best costumes! People who go dressed in theme can win some amazing prizes if they enter the costume competitions, held at 12 noon on both days in the Great Hall.

This is one event you won’t want to miss—mark your calendars and get ready to jump into a weekend of living history, fierce battles, tasty food, and unforgettable entertainment at the 2025 SA Medieval Fair. Huzzah!
