Get ready, Adelaide! Stirling Laneways is back and better than ever. Kicking off its tenth season this year, this monthly event until April promises a mix of market shopping, live entertainment, and a buzzing atmosphere, right in the heart of Stirling.
With the recent fire in the Stirling Village, there is no better time to get down and support local business.
Stroll through the lanes and discover stalls brimming with handmade crafts, vintage goodies, and tasty treats. As you shop, enjoy the backdrop of live music, from folk tunes to global beats, and keep an eye out for street performers adding a touch of magic to the streets.
Internationally acclaimed performing artist and local creative Anya McNicol-Windram (AKA Anya Anastasia) enters her second year as the event director, and says this year’s milestone for Laneways has brought an exciting opportunity to celebrate, and to mix things up with some new additions.
“Stirling Laneways is a flagship long-standing event of our beautiful village, but it is also wonderfully adaptive. This year we’re expanding to shine a spotlight on different parts of Stirling. We’re bringing world class entertainers to two free music stages which will feature artists who have graced international stages in Spain, Nashville, Canada, and our own WOMADelaide, such as Kelly Menhennet, Alain Valodze, Glenn Skuthorpe, and more.
“We are opening a new market strip which will be known as ‘Organic Market Lane’ filled with a diverse selection of stall-holders featuring local artists and producers complementary to their shop & cafe. We’re excited to work with the iconic The Organic Market & Cafe on this vibrant new hub.
For those looking to unwind, the new ‘Quercus Lane’ near the popular Hokey Pokey ice creamery is the spot. Grab a local gin from Ginnypig Distillery, kick back, and enjoy the live tunes.
“We’ll also have a licenced Laneway this year in our fabulously quirky ‘Quercus Lane’ near Stirling’s award-winning Hokey Pokey ice creamery. Visitors can enjoy a beverage in the sun from the pop-up bar by small-batch gin producer Ginnypig Distillery and listen to the sounds of SA’s best musical talents to take a break from shopping their favourite market stalls.”
But Stirling Laneways is more than just a market; it’s a community event. “We want folks to enjoy the simple things – good music, great food, and the company of friends and family,” Anya adds.
“The event this weekend is of particular importance to Stirling businesses and given the recent fire that has impacted everyone, and we are looking forward to welcoming visitors and locals to our beautiful village in celebration of all that Stirling has to offer, and our resilience.”
Having won the Mainstreet SA’s Market & Street Activation Awards twice, Stirling Laneways has made its mark as a top event in the region.
“Laneways is all about discovery! We want visitors to ‘follow their feet’ toward sights and sounds that are well outside of the everyday… The stamp of Spanish flamenco dancers’ feet in the ‘Village Square’, or the smell of freshly baked croissants from French pâtissier & Laneways stall-holders Les Deux Coqs, or sit in the sun and enjoy al fresco dining in Stirling’s exceptional restaurants and Cafes and watch the kaleidoscopic parade of sights and sounds go by!”
