Become a Ghostbuster at Old Adelaide Gaol’s paranormal lock in this weekend

Love anything paranormal? This weekend you’ll be able to explore the extremely haunted old Adelaide gaol during a paranormal lock in.

Think you’re ready to visit South Australia’s most haunted establishment? Then you’re in luck, as there’s a paranormal lock in at the Old Adelaide Gaol this weekend.

The over 18 event is a tour of the extremely haunted old gaol which was home to some of Adelaide’s most hardened criminals.

The gaol was the first permanent one in South Australia and operated from 1841 until 1988.

After decades of death and suffering, you’ll no doubt see evidence of the afterlife that has been captured during your 3-3.5 hour tour. During the lock in you’ll be guided around showing you real footage of investigations conducted within the gaol.

You’ll be provided with all the equipment you will need: including EMF detectors, voice recording equipment and they will make sure that there are experienced investigators there to guide you along this unique experience.

Find out and investigate the areas where prison guards refused to do night duty and hear the tales of footsteps being heard and keys being rattled from the staff and volunteers as their stories are re-lived.

You’ll listen to tales of housed inmates such as John Balaban, who was responsible for one of Adelaide’s most notorious crimes.

Balaban went on a killing spree at the former Sunshine Cafe on Gouger Street (also known as Cane Corner), victims included his wife, and his step son Phillip, who was only 6 years old.

Legend has it his ghost is still seen by guests and the tour guides in the Gaol today.

The tour guides will take you to his grave where the only marks that identify his remains are his initials on the wall ‘JB”.

You’ll also see where the prisoners had their daily meals, visit the exercise yard where violence often erupted and investigate the condemned mans cell and retrace their final moments before execution.

This tour is definitely not for the faint of heart!

If you can’t make it this weekend, they will also be doing the paranormal lock in in April.
