The Strathmore Hotel and Adelaide’s Imprints Booksellers are teaming up to launch “Read Between the Wines” at the Strathmore’s Verandah Bar on North Terrace. The exciting series of events promises to be much more than your typical book club.
Starting July 9th and held on the second Tuesday each month from 6pm, “Read Between the Wines” will offer a unique opportunity for guests to unwind after a day of work or uni, and enjoy the company of friends, fellow book lovers, and wine enthusiasts.
In this day and age, when everyone is so consumed by their phones, these events offer a refreshing opportunity to connect with others and a different after-hours experience. Whether you’re an avid reader, or just diving into the world of books, everyone is invited to enjoy an evening with guest authors, engaging discussions, and special presentations from featured wine partners.
Each month, a new book will be featured, with those who reserve their spot receiving a 10% discount when purchasing from Imprints Booksellers on Hindley Street, including this month’s book All Fours by Miranda July. The following month’s book will be available for purchase at the event, with updates to be shared through The Strathmore’s socials and Read Between the Wines mailing list (linked at the bottom).
Katherine Woehlert from Imprints Booksellers will host the first event in July, leading discussions and engaging with guests. Wine experts will also share their industry insights and tasting notes. Guests will enjoy a glass of wine on arrival, along with discounts on food, drinks, and take-home wine purchases – all for just $15.
“We are looking forward to engaging with the people in our community. Even if you aren’t a big reader, this club might be just the thing to get you on the reading path. We can’t wait for the first meeting in July,” Katherine Woehlert from Imprints Booksellers says.
The Strath is an iconic South Australian hotel, family owned since 1972 and plays an important role in maintaining Adelaide’s vibrant social scene in the CBD.
“We know how important The Strath is to people as a place to connect and have a sense of community,” a spokesperson from Strathmore Hotel said.
“We love providing that for sport, or before the theatre and over dinner, so we thought, why not over books too!”
Whether you’re keen to go alone or with friends, “Read Between the Wines” will offer a relaxed atmosphere where literature, wine, and good company come together.
