Strawberry picking season at Beerenberg has kicked off

The Beerenberg Family Farm’s much-loved strawberry patch is now open for visitors to pick their own strawberries.

It’s October, and that means strawberry season is ripe, and strawberry picking is officially back.

The Beerenberg Family Farm’s much-loved strawberry patch is now open for visitors to pick their own strawberries.

Beerenberg’s first batch of strawberry jam, featuring strawberries picked from the patch, was made in 1971, with the strawberry picking experience offered to the public from 1975.

If you’re heading to the farm to pick some strawberries, the Beerenberg team recommend checking their website to ensure the patch is open on that particular day.

On arrival, you’ll head to the Farm Shop, and for $5/person (free for 12 years and under), you’ll be given a wristband and picking containers.

After picking to your heart’s content in the strawberry patch, return to the Farm Shop to pay for your strawberries ($10.95/kg).

The Beerenberg Family Farm is open 7 days a week* (closed Christmas Day) with patch entry 9am to 4.15pm (Farm Shop closes at 5pm).

The Beerenberg Family Farm is located at 2106 Mount Barker Rd, Hahndorf.
