Street Party Alert – Epic Celebration For SALA Returns To Goodwood Road

We’ve found the perfect way to spend you Sunday Afternoon in Goodwood.

If you like art and if you like partying, then we have the perfect event for you.

Goodwood Road is hosting an epic street party to celebrate the South Australian Living Artists Festival (SALA), on August 25 from 11-4pm.

Everyone in the community has really embraced SALA and there are around 40 businesses along Goodwood Road displaying art for the festival.

Even the Goodwood Primary School is involved, proudly displaying an outdoor exhibition of children’s work on their fence.

One spectacular piece of art that needs to be checked out, is the piece “64” by Joshua Horton. Currently displayed in the Goodwood Community Centre, the title is a reference to the average number of Australian women and men killed as a result of domestic violence each year.

His artwork is in support of Catherine House.  Joshua will be at the Community Centre on the day of the Street Party and available to talk with anyone interested.

The Sunday SALA on Goody street party will be held in Gilbert Street  right next to the Capri Theatre’scolourful wall art by Vans the Omega and Jake Holmes.

There will be events for all ages commencing at 11am with drumming workshops for the children, but there will also be face painting, and art workshops as well.

With the exciting addition of drumming workshops with Ghanian singer and songwriter, Manadi Lopa.

To keep everyone’s stomachs satisfied throughout the day, there will be lots of Goodwood foodie favourites on offer.

Cru Tapas Bar and Kitchen will be serving up an epic Paella, EN Japanese will be selling some delicious cuisine including Yakatoi skewers and Candela will bring a taste of Latin America to the party.

Two Sisters Food and Wine, will be in attendance with their legendary toasted sandwiches and they will also be selling mulled wine and hot nuts, appropriate for this winter weather.

Boulangerie 113 and Tinglee Kitchen will round off the great variety of food stalls , with the Ortus Wine Caravan and Poopie the Frenchie catering for wine lovers.

Throughout the day there will also be live jazz music to set the mood for the perfect artsy Sunday arvo event.

More information can be found here, and the event will be on Sunday August 25 in GilbertStreet just off Goodwood Road in Goodwood.
