Tim Ludeman (22 off 21) and Craig Simmons (17 off 18) toiled hard from the first ball, establishing a good platform in the powerplay, but the loss of their wickets early proved costly.

Returning from injury, Hogg was in fine form in his first match of BBL|04, finishing with 2/11 while doing most of his damage through the middle order.

Kane Richardson (18 off 17) offered some resistance late, but it wasn’t enough as Arafat (2/30) claimed two wickets to seal the win.

Earlier in the match, the Adelaide Strikers bowling attack continued to show why they are regarded one of the best in the league, restricting the visitors to 133. Kane Richardson (0/18) was economical, while Shaun Tait (2/27) was explosive in his return from injury.

The Perth Scorchers struggled early, with Adam Zampa (2/26) claiming the wickets of both Michael Klinger (21 off 23) and Michael Carberry (11 off 17) in the eighth over.

Adam Voges (54 off 36) was the pick of the Scorchers’ batsmen, smashing six boundaries to see the visitors post a competitive total.

It was the Strikers’ first loss of the season but they remain top of the KFC T20 Big Bash League ladder with three matches remaining.

Adelaide continues to show its passion for the BBL and the Strikers with 42,654 fans packing into Adelaide Oval to watch the match.
