The Adelaide Strikers have named their squad for the opening round of BBL|06 against the Brisbane Heat at Adelaide Oval on Wednesday night.
The squad features Jon Holland’s injury replacement, with Western Australian Liam O’Connor joining the Strikers.
The right-arm leg-spinner has excelled at Futures League and Premier Cricket levels across the past few summers which earned him a Western Warriors rookie contract for the 2015-16 season.
Adelaide Strikers Head Coach Jason Gillespie heralded the bowler’s efforts in two practice matches with the team.
“While all the trial game spinners were impressive, Liam simply brings something different to the squad with his attitude and his efforts,” he said.
“He’s a young player but will be a valuable asset to our side with his spin bowling.”
Kieron Pollard returns for BBL|06 after sustaining a knee injury which ruled him out for the entirety of last year.
There are also potential debutants from the West End Redbacks in opening batsman Jake Weatherald and paceman Wes Agar, brother of spinner Ashton.
The squad also features former Australia T20 player Ben Dunk and England’s Chris Jordan.
