strikersThe Adelaide Strikers have again rewarded another local talent, signing South Australian paceman Chadd Sayers for BBL|04.

Sayers is well known to South Australian cricket fans; his rapid rise from Woodville Cricket Club Grade cricketer to Australia A squad member was a well-known local success story.

After being awarded the Bradman Medal as the most outstanding player in the West End A Grade competition in 2011, Sayers secured his first West End Redbacks contract and has continued to prove his value at this level. Renowned for his accurate swing bowling, the medium-pacer has taken 117 wickets in 29 first-class matches. Sayers has been a member of the Australia A squad for the past two years, including a dominant five-wicket haul against India A in August earlier this year.

A popular team member, Sayers was an inaugural winner of the Barry ‘Nugget’ Rees Award, which recognises the player who annually displays passion for South Australia and South Australian cricket, humility, honesty and integrity, team work and respect for the game of cricket.

“I’m really excited to be involved with the Adelaide Strikers. To play for the South Australian-based side is an honour and I couldn’t imagine playing anywhere else, so I can’t wait for December to come around,” Sayers said.

“A packed Adelaide Oval will be amazing to play in front of, so hopefully the Striker fans in their blue wigs can pack the stands. The New Year’s Eve game is going to be pretty amazing here at our home ground.

“I will definitely be pushing to make my debut. There are a lot of good bowlers with Richo and Taity in the side and obviously they will get first crack, but if I get a chance I will definitely take it.”

Adelaide Strikers squad: Jono Dean, Travis Head, Brad Hodge, Phil Hughes, Trent Lawford, Ben Laughlin, Tim Ludeman, Michael Neser, Kane Richardson, Chadd Sayers, Craig Simmons, Shaun Tait, Adam Zampa.
