Strong South Australian lineup joins BIGSOUND, the country’s largest festival of new music

Some of SA’s brightest music talents are heading to Brisbane for the country’s biggest new music discovery festival.

Australia’s biggest celebration of new music, BIGSOUND, returns to Brisbane’s Fortitude Valley this September, and this year, a strong South Australian lineup is making sure Adelaide is making noise.

Held across 18 stages from 2 to 5 September, the annual music industry event draws musicians and delegates from around the country and beyond. It’s known as a key discovery platform for emerging artists. Names like Flume, Tash Sultana, and Tones And I have all played BIGSOUND on their way to international stardom.

In 2025, ten artists from South Australia will be making their way to Queensland, spanning indie pop, folk, metalcore, hip hop and more. It’s a major showing for local talent, and a chance for these artists to take their music to a new level.

George Alice, who first broke through as the triple j Unearthed High winner in 2019, headlines the list of South Aussies with a new sound shaped by ‘suburban nights and club floors’. Indie shoegaze four-piece Sunsick Daisy returns with a new EP, while The Tullamarines, known for their high-energy shows, continue to build national momentum.

Genre-hopping emo outfit Down And Out also joins the lineup, along with rising hip hop voice Yung Maynie, progressive metalcore band LUMENS, and singer-songwriter Ella Ion, whose raw, folk-inflected sound has been gaining attention.

Other local names include R&B artist Marlon, energetic indie outfit PUREE, and alt-rock band Heartline, who have built a solid live reputation since their 2019 debut.

Headliners outside of SA include global alt-pop force Wafia, genre-defying neo-soul artist KAIIT, shoegaze-pop favourite Hatchie, and high-energy rock duo Polish Club.

With this calibre of homegrown talent, BIGSOUND 2025 shapes up as an important platform for South Australian artists to reach new Australian audiences, connect with industry, and be part of the wider national conversation in music.

Festival Programmers Casey O’Shaughnessy and Katie Rynne said, “We’re thrilled to finally share the BIGSOUND 2025 lineup with you. Curating this year’s program has been such a joy.”

“The artists we’ve selected reflect the incredible depth of talent in Australia, and each one is doing truly exciting things with their music. We’re so proud of this group and can’t wait to see them bring the Fortitude Valley to life in September.”

If you’re looking to show some support for our South Australian artists, or discover the next Australian superstar, tickets for BIGSOUND are available now. Choose from single or three-night passes and head along to one of the country’s most exciting events for discovering new music.
